A powerful clan in the north-eastern part of the Ashwan Desert. Like the other desert clans, they value their independence and view the Ravinale government with suspicion.
Rahel was raised as a member of the Rubat clan, but fled to Ravinale in order to avoid an arranged marriage. As Rahel says, "they are a backwards people who treat women like animals; animals like objects, and think that objects hold the very meaning of life itself." Rahel also comments that (When asked, "we might need their help.") "you would have more luck extracting wine from a dung heap."
